July 2023 Book Reviews

In 2023, my reading goal is 100 books! I want to read 25 of those and listen to 75. Last year, I was in a job where I could listen to things A LOT. I was able to consume 155 audio books. Some were amazing, some were average, but all of them made the day more fun.

This year, my reading and listening has slowed for a few reasons. After so many books last year, I was just a little burned out. I also moved out of a role where I did a lot of mindless work, to one where I have had to focus more. I am also surrounded by people more so I am not listening 100% of the time. And honestly, its kind of a nice change. I love to be engrossed in books, but love real connection too.

Lets get into my July 2023 reads!

  • What I Was Doing While You Were Breeding

  • Rich People Problems

  • Rewrite Our Story

  • Grit

  • This Bird Has Flown

⭐⭐⭐⭐ What I Was Doing While You Were Breeding by Kristen Newman. If I am being 100% honest, this one took me a loong time to finish. The story was well done, but the first part wasnt that engrossing. But I loved the stories and the adventures. Definitely a great book.

⭐⭐ Rich People Problems by Kevin Kwan. I know everyone has seen Crazy Rich Asians. I loved the movie and the first 2 books. However, this is my first 2 star review. It took me forever to listen to this. Way to long and not overly engaging. If you have read the other 2, you may as well read it, but if you havent, skip it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rewrite Our Story by Kat Singleton. I really loved this book! I saw it on insta reels and it was included on KindleUnlimited. It goes back and forth between narrators and I loved it. I love supporting a new author. A must read.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance by Angela Duckworth. I loved this book. So insightful into what grit really is. IMO if you like self improvement this is a must read.

⭐⭐⭐ This Bird Has Flown by Susanna Hoffs. It was good! Real good. It was interesting and I was curious what was going to happen throughout it all. However, it wasnt the most engaging. Worth the listen.

This was a quiet book month. I was busy and just more into podcasts. I am behind on my goal since we are already 7/12 done with the year and I have only read 44/100 books. But I think I can do it :).

Honestly, I am a bad critic. I like most books, and I think everyone has their own opinion. However, I love reading about books and peoples thoughts!

If you have read any of these, I would love to discuss. Feel free to shoot me an email or connect with my on GoodReads. Also, let me know your recommendations below.
